I had the fag, but didn't go back to bed - I thought I'd see if I could listen to music again, and I can. Only classical music so far, and hymns, but it's a start. I have some very odd playlists on my iPod, one of which is playing now - the Genius mixer comes up with some strange combinations. So I've had The William Tell overture, and now it's Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer. We used to sing the latter in the Mess at St Athan in Wales - lots of Welsh voices. Most Dining In NIghts had a piano player and we made the most of him. At Coningsby, the tradition was to burn pianos and we got through quite a few. During one Dining In, 29 Squadron released a piglet, leading to the President uttering those immortal words "Gentlemen - remove that pig". It went down in RAF history and in later years at different stations, when it came up, I was able to say "I was there". Your defence is safe with us.
I think I really will try bed again.
I spent 16 years in the RAF defending the Free World , then got bunged out unceremoniously for being bipolar. I and was subsequently diagnosed with PTSD. Funny old world, isn't it?
